OSA&SPIE Student Chapter Joint Annual Report 2022

In the past year, we have actively created opportunities to hold activities in the name of the association, with a total of 5 professional development events and 3 education outlet activities.

 

1. Annual Meeting of Tianjin University

 

In December 2021, the series of academic reports of Begonia sponsored by the OPTICA Student Branch of Tianjin University was successfully held.

In this series of academic reports on Begonia, five outstanding master and doctoral students from Tianjin University, Nankai University and Hebei University of Technology introduced their research achievements in the field of optics. The report topics cover such fields as deep learning, nonlinear optics, optical encryption, optical 3D measurement and single photon detector.

 

2. Annual Meeting of Hebei University of Technology

 

In December 2021, we were invited to the OPTICA Student Branch of Hebei University of Technology and attended their annual meeting. At the annual meeting, a total of 7 young scholars shared their research contents.

 

3. Annual Meeting of Capital Normal University

 

In December 2021, we were invited to the OPTICA Student Branch of Capital Normal University and attended their annual meeting. At the annual meeting, a total of 6 young scholars shared their research contents.

 

4. Tianjin University Begonia Employment Guidance

 

This is a new activity held by our branch, which aims to give graduates a clearer understanding of employment. In April 2022, we invited three seniors who have already worked to share their experience in finding recruitment information and clarifying job selection.

 

5. International Day of Light at Tianjin University

 

In May 2022, in order to celebrate the International Day of Light, we invited Professor Xiaolong Hu to give a lecture entitled "A Short Story about Single Photon". The speech was profound and very wonderful, won the praise of everyone present, and ignited everyone's enthusiasm for optics.

 

6. COMSOL training activities of Tianjin University

 

In June 2022, we invited Zhang Kai, a senior application engineer of COMSOL China, to give a lecture. The lecture content is how to use COMSOL to model and analyze micro/nano optical devices, including surface plasmons, integrated optics, etc.

 

7. International Lectures

 

In December 2021, we invited Professor Uwe Morgner from the School of Optics and Photonics of Leibniz University in Hanover, Germany, to give a lecture. In this lecture, Professor Uwe Morgner shared and demonstrated his own research achievements through online conference.

 

8. Recruitment

 

Every September is the opening season of Chinese universities, and a group of new faces will come. This is our opportunity to accept new people. We organize offline publicity activities, including the introduction of the Association, the welfare of the Association, the activities of the Association, etc. On the day of the activity, the number of participants was about 30, and we finally accepted 13 new members.
